Welcome to the NZ Disability Media Collective

This social network aims to help the New Zealand media deal with disability better. It offers:

  • videos, forums and blogs promoting examples of constructive images and language
  • a network of disabled commentators and sources for the media to consult when researching stories involving disability issues
  • a space to discuss and debate for mediaphiles with and without the experience of disability.

So sign up, participate and help create new spins for old stories. Please note: We are working with Ning, the developer of this free platform, to enhance sign-up features for people with low vision. Please email us if you need assistance.

If you are willing to be contacted by the media for comment on issues, please join the Commentators group.

If you work in the media and want to help promote change, join the Media allies group.
